Painted lady: Anita, Iowa

Not a completely purple house but loved the purple layers. Stopped at this small town on my way home from Denver and had a slice of raisin cream pie at the cafe where the screen door sticks and picked up a copy of the Anita Tribune in which the spaghetti dinner is front page news. My favorite item was in the lost-and-found section:

"LOST: Men's reading glasses, Fri., March 26 in the afternoon, around 3 miles east of Lincoln Center on G-35. If found, please call (x)."

I picture a frustrated spouse winging the glasses out the car window. And probably for the cost of the ad the guy could run down to Walgreens and get himself a new pair...?

Ah, raisin cream pie. Does that involve anything like custard? Keep up the good work. I love it. So good to tune into.

Is this blog still running? My son and I discovered Anita on a Harley trip across the States, and loved it.

Hi Chris! Thanks for your comment. I'm up and running but sporadic at the moment. Anita is a great town. I've found some purple treasures in the smaller towns. When was your trip?

Yes, I was fascinated by your website. I discovered it when Google-Imaging Anita. Very interesting site.
We did the U.S. trip Summer '12, renting bikes from LA and leaving them in Brooklyn. Happened upon Anita, and loved it. Actually, the picture in the papers over here was of Matt and me parking in Anita.
Good luck with all your enterprises, especially the novels.
Re crazy t-shirts, check out my other son's designs and shirts. www.odtee.com.
All the best from UK and hope your Thanksgiving went well.

I love the t-shirts!! Thanks for sharing. I've followed Odtee on Facebook as well. I've got a page, "Purple Houses Art."
Sounds like an amazing trip -- travel is wonderful for so many reasons. I've driven across country a couple of times and love the discoveries. Glad you had that experience with your son.
Thanks for reading & for your kind wishes, Chris.

Wow. Your Facebook pages and and your other creative efforts are proof that you certainly know how to fill every minute with sixty seconds worth of distance run! Do you ever take a break? Do you have a full time job, too? Novel writing must take over your life! Saw your paintings. We love the truth and spontaneity of the recent black cat. (We have one.) That or Silver Leaf would be my own choice, but Wolf Moon just works at every level, doesn't it.
Best wishes fromUK
Chris

Hi Chris -- I do also work full time, which is why everything is so sporadic right now. But hopefully all the sprinting will pay off one day! Thanks so much for taking the time to take a look at my paintings; so glad you enjoyed them. You should post a photo of your black cat on the Purple Houses FB site. Merry Christmas & best to you in the new year!

Thanks for your message. Happy New Year from UK. Our 3 came for Christmas, and all four new granddaughters were together for the first time. All the little girls who came to my son's New Year party yesterday arrived in their 'Frozen' dresses. What an international phenomenon that film is!
All the best for your projects in 2015
Keep writing and painting
Chris
